History
1949
“Airport Seppe” was founded by the late Adrie van Campenhout. The airfield was opened up on August 28th, 1949, but only for gliders. .
1961
On July 14th, 1961, “Seppe” becomes an official airfield with the code EHSE – Seppe/Hoeven. It is now allowed for motorized airplanes to land at the airfield.
1990
The grass runway was lengthened from 600 metres to 830 metres, in order to welcome larger aircrafts at “Seppe Airport”. The extended runway could not be used until October 15th, 1996. On that day, the ministers of Transport, Water management and those of Housing, Spatial Planning and Environment decided on the designation and zoning of Seppe.
2002
In 2002, the runway of “Seppe” is paved.
2003
On May 28th, 2003, a decision of the Council makes the designation and zoning final.
2008
On January 1st in 2008, Airport Seppe was sold to Seppe Holding B.V.. Before this day, the airport was owned by 13 municipalities and the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. The new management is foreseeing a bright future for the airfield with a new name: Seppe Airport NV. The first steps are taken to renovate the building of the airport authorities.
2015
Seppe Airport changes its name to Breda International Airport.
